Sr Platform Engineer

Job Description:POSITION PURPOSEWe are seeking a talented Senior Platform Engineer to join our IT team. As we continue to leverage AWS cloud infrastructure for our portfolio of applications, we are looking for someone who can help support our existing systems while driving modernization efforts to improve our provisioning, monitoring, and scalability strategies. The candidate will work closely with development teams, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure the reliability, efficient operation, and scalability of our key applications in various environments.PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIESSupport and maintain existing AWS-based applications running on Windows and Linux serversCollaborate with development teams to understand the infrastructure requirements of the team and ensure it is aligned with architectural principles and best practices around system configuration, performance tuning, and security.Design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure using AWS servicesDevelop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for automated provisioning and configuration management.Implement high availability, backup strategies, and disaster recovery for supported applications.Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automating application deployment processes to improve efficiency and reduce errors.Monitor and optimize the team's infrastructure components, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and implementing performance tuning measures.Collaborate with the security team to ensure the implementation of appropriate security controls and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex infrastructure-related issues, working closely with the development team and vendors as needed.Requirements:QUALIFICATIONSEducation / Experience / BackgroundMinimum Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and equivalent experience.Minimum 6 years of designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure services or similar role.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesTechnical Skills:Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, and CloudFormationProficiency in Windows Server administration and Linux system administrationExperience with SQL Server and Amazon RDS for SQL ServerExpertise in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation and testingFamiliarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormationExperience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or PuppetKnowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architecturesProficiency with networking concepts and experience with AWS networking servicesFamiliarity with monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK stack, or PrometheusExperience with CI/CD tools and methodologies (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline)Soft Skills:Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a teamAbility to work independently and as part of a team.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Certification / Licenses / TrainingAWS Professional Certifications preferred
