Description
Position requires preparation of lecture and laboratory presentations, curriculum review, and the practical instruction of laboratory skills in accordance with NAACLS standards. Subjects may include Phlebotomy, Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microbiology, Blood Bank/Serology, Molecular, Urinalysis/Body Fluids, Intro to MLT, Professional Development, Problem solving, Quality control, Lab Math. Evaluation of practical laboratory skill performance. Serves as a liaison between College and community health care facilities. Serves on the Medical Laboratory Advisory Committee at the College. Provides input for needs assessment, continued development, accreditation, and outcomes assessment for all Laboratory Phlebotomy and Medical Laboratory Technology programs (College separated LP out of MLT).
Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various topics in relation to a specific discipline
Evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments and papers
Prepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handouts
May be assigned to teach courses on campus or at partner high schools, conduct adjunct instructor observations, and contribute to program development
Keeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, speaking with colleagues and participating in professional conferences
Maintains student attendance records, grades and other required records
Initiates, facilitates and moderates classroom discussions
As needed, advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issues
Plans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content and course materials and methods of instruction
Compiles, administers and grades examinations
Collaborates with colleagues to address teaching and research issues
Maintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students
Selects and obtains materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment
May serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, department matters and academic issues
May participate in campus and community events
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or higher and ASCP (or equivalent) MLT/MLS/MT certification (dated terminology/ASCP&ASCLS updated official designations)
5 years of related recent (within the last 3 years) medical laboratory experience
Teaching experience
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite (or equivalent)
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for students
Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skills
Logic and reasoning skills to identify solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience teaching medical lab students; 5 years of recent job experience in this specialty
Recent blood bank and/or microbiology experience
Experience designing and teaching using a course management system (CMS) such as Blackboard
Community college teaching experience
This Lectureship is for one Academic Year, classes beginning in Fall 2026. Ability to work a combination of days/evenings/weekends is required. Assignments may include working at multiple sites/campuses.

$ 46,348 minimum; offer based on education and/or experience.
