Transportation Authority of Calhoun County (TACC) - Utility Worker

JOB Performs semi-skilled maintenance work for the Battle Creek Transit on coaches and facilities; maintains grounds and equipment around bus shelters and various Transit facilities; and performs related work as required. This position is a Department of Transportation Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory, random drug and alcohol testing pursuant to Federal and City regulations and policies. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Inspects physical facilities and coaches for such factors as cleanliness, safety, and appearance.Keeps interior floors, windows, and seats of coaches clean; keeps exterior of coaches clean.Fuels and services coaches (checks oil, water, and transmission fluid levels).Probe and change fare boxes.Performs grounds maintenance at various Transit facilities such as lawn mowing, snow removal, and pulling weeds.Maintains progress sheets and daily work orders.Prepares records and reports as required.Places bus stop signs and performs maintenance in and around bus shelters.Assists in various other maintenance tasks at Transit facilities.Operate buses of various sizes, a truck and/or light equipment.May purchase supplies and materials.Clean building facility's including but not limited to janitorial duties, painting, some building maintenance SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Expected to perform the following or it is a critical part of the position: Standing, walking, driving a motor vehicle, lifting (0-50 lbs.), pushing or pulling, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, squatting, reaching, grasping, holding, repetitive movements, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, depth perception, and field of vision), hearing, talking, and working inside and outside. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Working in wet surroundings, working at night, around loud noises, in low temperature and inclement weather, with poor ventilation, around dust and/or fumes, and working with cleaning solvents, gasoline, and fuel oil.
