Function Tester / Testing TechnicianThis role focuses on electrically testing control panels and enclosures to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. The Testing Technician applies electrical theory and related knowledge to verify that wiring matches schematics, performs function testing, and documents any issues that require rework. This position plays a key role in quality assurance by inspecting panels, troubleshooting wiring problems, and supporting continuous improvement in a clean, modern manufacturing environment.ResponsibilitiesApply electrical theory and related knowledge to test control panels and enclosures electrically.Verify that all wiring matches schematics and blueprints, ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications.Utilize blueprints for quality control and inspection of panels, documenting findings clearly and accurately.Perform function testing to measure the performance of wiring and confirm that panel wiring is completed correctly.Implement and follow quality assurance policies and procedures while performing inspections and function testing.Identify wiring or assembly errors, troubleshoot issues, and resolve or escalate them as appropriate.Make detailed notes on blueprints and bills of materials when work is not done correctly, specifying what needs to be redone.Operate a hydraulic pallet jack safely to move panels and related materials as needed.Use hand tools and power tools appropriately during testing, inspection, and minor adjustments.Read and interpret schematics, electrical drawings, and specialized diagrams with accuracy.Measure and verify dimensions using a tape measure, including fractions and decimal measurements.Maintain a strong focus on quality control and quality inspection throughout all tasks.Work independently in a production and performance-based environment, staying on task to meet deadlines and output expectations.Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).Collaborate with other members of the quality assurance department to support overall production goals and continuous improvement.Essential SkillsAt least 1 year of quality control and function testing experience.1 to 4 years of previous wiring experience preferred.Minimum of 6 months of experience operating a hydraulic pallet jack.Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and electrical drawings.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to electrical and electronic systems.Ability to accurately read a tape measure and understand fractional and decimal dimensions.Experience with quality control and quality inspection in a manufacturing or electrical environment.Hands-on experience with electrical, electronics, or related fields such as HVAC or mechanical systems.Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 lbs as part of daily tasks.Capacity to work independently in a production and performance-based setting, maintaining focus and productivity.Familiarity with electrical assembly and wiring practices.Comfort working around typical manufacturing noises such as drilling, cutting, and banging.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in electrical assembly, electrician work, or related trades.Experience in electronics, electrical systems, HVAC, or mechanical environments.Prior experience in a quality assurance or quality inspection department.Ability to interpret specialized drawings, with training provided as needed.Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and documentation.Comfort working in a structured environment with clear performance expectations and attendance policies.Interest in long-term growth within a large, established manufacturing operation.Ability to communicate clearly with peers and supervisors regarding quality issues and rework requirements.Work EnvironmentThe role follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a 60-minute unpaid lunch. The facility is a modern, 250,000-square-foot building that is very clean, bright, and climate-controlled. Each person works in their own workspace, close to others but primarily performing tasks independently in a production and performance-based setting. The quality assurance department consists of approximately 16 people within a larger facility of about 200 employees. Typical manufacturing sounds, including loud noises from drilling, cutting, and banging, are present. The quality department operates as part of the office structure, separate from the unionized production floor. The dress code includes jeans, t-shirts, and closed-toe shoes. Safety glasses are provided and must be worn, and closed-toe shoes are required as part of the PPE. The organization offers health benefits for office employees with eligibility on the first day of the month following hire, as well as a retirement plan where employees can contribute a percentage from hire and receive an annual employer contribution. Office employees receive annual performance reviews around June 1, during which bonuses and pay increases are determined based on company and individual performance. The attendance policy includes a 5-minute clock-in cushion; clocking in outside this window counts as an incident, with up to five incidents allowed within 60 days. A doctor's note submitted within two days can excuse certain absences.
