Banquet ManagerThe Skirball Cultural Center seeks a capable and conscientious Banquet Manager. Reporting to the Senior Catering Manager, this position is responsible for helping to oversee catering operations through the development and completion of all events.Salary: $70,000/yearResponsibilities:Ensure the recruitment and training of team members in our standards and proceduresReceive banquet event orders (BEOs) and determine proper staffing; ensure all food and service activities comply with BEOs, health and fire code requirements, and Jewish dietary laws, as requestedOrganize day-of event needs with the Event Coordinator and establish and implement day-of event schedulesPlan, organize, and assign employee responsibilities to meet client needsProvide on-site supervision and coordination during events; act as liaison between clients and employees prior to and during events; provide goods and services during events, ensuring smooth efficient operationsRepresent the Skirball to guests; resolve problems quickly and efficiently; ensure service quality and standardsAct as liaison between catering employees and Skirball employees in other departmentsHelp maintain inventory supplies and proper equipment; ensure maintenance of stock areas for neatness and efficiency; report ordering needs to Senior Catering ManagerSupervise performance of on-call employees; recommend disciplinary action when needed; help provide on-the-job training to ensure employees offer appropriate service; follow up to ensure complianceAssist Senior Catering Manager with managing tabulating payroll on ADPMaintain petty cash for cash bars, carts, and catering needs; follow procedures for balancing cash and submitting reports as scheduledDevelop and maintain professional and managerial skills through participation in workshops and conferences, further education, and researching professional literatureQualifications, Experience, and Attributes:2+ years of experience in a food and beverage operational positionMust have a current California Food Handler's Certificate and ABC CertificationExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to work independently, as a team player, and cross-functionally with all other departmentsAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysPrevious experience with Ungerboeck and Staffmate
