As a family-owned company founded in 1892 and headquartered in Vienna, Kapsch can look back on 130 years of experience with the future.The Field Service Technician III is a senior level role responsible for advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices and infrastructure supporting the Memphis SmartWay system. This position serves as a technical lead in the field, handling complex issues and supporting team operations while ensuring compliance with contract requirements and SLAs.Your ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative and corrective maintenance on ITS systemsRespond to and resolve trouble tickets within required timelinesDiagnose and repair complex issues across multiple ITS devicesMaintain and support systems including CCTV, DMS, HAR, detection systems, wireless communications, fiber optic networks, and network equipmentPerform utility locating for fiber and power infrastructureInstall, upgrade, modify, and replace ITS equipment as requiredUtilize diagnostic tools and testing equipment to troubleshoot system faultsMaintain accurate daily logs, labor tracking, and service recordsReceive and manage inventory and assist with material requestsSupport subcontractors and ensure work meets quality and specification standardsAssist and guide junior technicians in field operationsWork EnvironmentOutdoor and roadside work near active traffic and elevated equipmentOn-call rotation (approximately one week per month)Non-standard hours including nights and weekends as neededYour ProfileAssociate’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience3–5 years of relevant field experience (ITS or similar preferred)Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, fiber optic, and network systemsAbility to read schematics and technical plansExperience with electronic testing equipmentKnowledge of low voltage systems, networking, and wireless communicationsProficiency in Microsoft Windows and basic Office toolsStrong communication and problem-solving skillsHighly DesiredExperience with ITS/SmartWay systemsHands-on work with CCTV, DMS, HAR, detection systems, and network infrastructureRF or microwave communication experienceRoadside or transportation system experienceCDL preferred or ability to obtain one, Must obtain once hiredAt this time we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role and all applicants must have working rights in the US and pass a background check.Kapsch is an equal opportunity employer.
