Controller | Richmond, VAWe're hiring a Controller to lead the accounting function for an established community association management firm based in Richmond VA. This is a high-visibility role with full ownership of financial operations, a team to lead, and a portfolio of community association clients who rely on you to keep their financial picture clear, accurate, and on time.What you'll ownYou'll oversee all accounting activities for a portfolio of condominium and homeowners associations — from financial reporting and budgeting to billing, collections, and internal controls. You'll lead and develop the A/R, A/P, and staff accountant teams, partner closely with Property Managers on annual budgets, and serve as the financial face of our clients to their boards of directors.A typical week might include:Reviewing financial statement packages and ensuring on-time delivery to clientsPresenting financials to community association boards and walking them through variancesRefining internal controls across budgeting, cash management, and AR/APCoordinating with external auditors and tax preparers on client accountsMonitoring client banking activity to ensure accurate balances and timely postingsCoaching and developing your accounting teamWhat we're looking forBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance5+ years of experience as a Controller (community association or property management industry strongly preferred)3+ years directly supervising a team of financial professionalsStrong command of GAAP and financial reporting standardsComfort with ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced ExcelConfidence presenting complex financial information to non-financial audiences (board members, property managers, owners)Sharp attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines without dropping the ballWhy this roleYou'll join a growing, well-resourced organization with the backing of a national portfolio behind it — but the day-to-day feel of a tight-knit local team.
