Embedded Hardware Engineer (Onsite)
Research Hardware EngineerAre you passionate about digital design and emerging technologies? As a member of our research hardware engineering team, you'll play a key role in developing advanced embedded systems that power next-generation products and mission-critical solutions. Working with SystemVerilog, FPGA technologies, and modern development tools, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, implement, test, and deploy innovative hardware solutions from concept through production.This role will be worked onsite in Burnsville, MN or Cedar Rapids, IA.What You Will Do:Architecture & Design: Define and lead the architecture and development of sophisticated embedded electronic systems for aerospace, with an emphasis on processor architectures and custom acceleration enginesHDL Development: Lead RTL development, integration, and verification using SystemVerilog for complex digital designsHardware Acceleration: Design and implement custom hardware acceleration engines to meet demanding performance, safety, reliability, and operational constraintsCollaboration: Work closely with software/firmware engineers, system architects, and product teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and cohesive end-to-end solutionsTesting & Validation: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, and use debugging tools like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to validate designs and troubleshoot issues at the component levelDocumentation & Standards: Create and maintain detailed design documentation, and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., DO-254, A(M)C 20-152A)Technical Leadership: Act as a technical authority during design reviews and mentor other engineers on design best practicesQualifications You Must Have:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related fieldExperience with FPGA development and HDL design using Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilogFamiliarity with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel QuartusWorking knowledge of RTL design, digital logic, and debugging techniques.Basic understanding of microcontrollers, embedded systems, or computer architectureQualifications We Prefer:Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilitiesStrong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teamsExperience with SystemVerilog-based verification methodologiesExperience with embedded software development in C/C+Exposure to high-speed digital design, signal integrity, and power managementExperience supporting hardware integration, testing, and troubleshooting in a lab environment
