An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support educational settings in Le Mars, IA. This role involves facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, educators, and staff to ensure equitable access to instruction and social interaction.Key Responsibilities:Accurately interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in real-time during classroom instruction and meetings.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to provide effective communication access.Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting in educational contexts.Travel between school sites within the designated area as necessary to fulfill assignment requirements.Assist in adapting educational materials and environment to support students' communication needs.Desired Qualifications:Proficiency in American Sign Language with proven interpreting experience in school settings.Strong understanding of educational terminology and classroom procedures.Ability to manage multiple assignments and travel between locations.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Certification from recognized interpreting associations is preferred.Location: Le Mars, IA; travel to various schools within the region required.
