Responsibilities: Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans that promote the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of children. Create a stimulating and nurturing learning environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and curiosity. Provide attentive supervision and support to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the classroom. Foster positive relationships with children, building trust and rapport through caring interactions and responsive caregiving. Assess the needs, interests, and abilities of each child and adapt teaching strategies accordingly to meet their unique developmental goals. Offer individualized attention and support to children with special needs or challenges, collaborating with families and other professionals as needed. Establish clear and consistent routines and expectations for behavior, promoting a respectful and inclusive classroom community. Manage transitions smoothly and effectively, maintaining a calm and organized learning environment. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, sharing insights, updates, and observations about children’s progress and development. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of children’s attendance, developmental milestones, and individualized learning plans. Complete required documentation for licensing, accreditation, and developmental screenings, ensuring compliance with state regulations. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of child development principles. Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other members of the child care team, sharing ideas, resources, and support to create a cohesive and collaborative work environment. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including maintaining a clean and sanitary classroom environment, administering medication as needed, and responding appropriately to emergencies. Respect and celebrate the cultural, linguistic, and familial diversity of children and families in the classroom, incorporating inclusive practices and materials that reflect their backgrounds and experiences. Required Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication skills with parents, teachers, and children. Outgoing & open-minded Must have a working knowledge of all local, state, and federal laws and procedures pertaining to childcare licensing. Knowledge of child development Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Child Development Associate (CDA) and/or Level III OCCRRA required. Associate or BA in early education preferred Current certification in First Aid and CPR preferred. Must pass criminal background check. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
