The basic responsibility of an adjunct faculty member is to review and distribute course syllabi to each class, follow standard course design designated by the dean or school, arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment necessary to meet course objectives, and basic reporting duties including grade reports, etc. The adjunct faculty member is expected to independently lead classes in either the online or face-to-face format. Adjunct faculty members are evaluated by students, the dean, academic chairs, and the college administration. We are looking for someone who shares a commitment to Casper College's student first emphasis.Essential DutiesTeach assigned Communication course(s) for the School of Social & Behavioral Science, depending on availability and needPrepare syllabi and schedules for each courseDevelop lesson plansProcure appropriate materials needed for course instructionReporting duties including student grade dataSubmitting student grades by midterm and final semester deadlines.Utilize active learning strategies to assist the learner in meeting the course objectivesParticipate in all required meetings and events as requested by the department or administrationBe available to students for questions and assistance with courseworkQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Communication or a minimum of 18 hours of graduate-level credit in Communication. Work experience will also be factored into the process depending on the type of Master's Degree.A commitment to teaching excellence and the mission of a comprehensive community collegeDesired Qualifications:Experience teaching at the college level, both classroom and online deliveryPrior experience teaching "Public Speaking" courses at the collegiate level.Supplemental InformationWork Environment:Typical work environment is a classroom, computer lab and/or office setting requiring normal safety precautions. Occasional site visits, where extra safety precautions will be required. Work is usually performed during the normal workday; however, occasional early morning, late evening and weekend work may be required. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors travelling between campus buildings in various weather conditions.Physical Demands:Employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. Specific vision requirements are close up with the ability to adjust focus.
