Overview
Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced Professional Anesthesia Coder to support physician revenue cycle operations during a large-scale Revenue Cycle transformation initiative.
This role will provide specialty coding expertise for anesthesia services within a centralized Professional Revenue Cycle model focused on improving standardization, efficiency, and cross-functional support.
The ideal candidate will have strong anesthesia coding experience, advanced knowledge of Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding, pain management coding, and hands-on experience working within Epic Professional Billing.
This is a temporary contract opportunity with potential for long-term employment based on performance, organizational needs, and future-state staffing requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform professional coding for anesthesia and related physician services.
Review clinical documentation to assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes.
Apply appropriate coding guidelines for anesthesia procedures, pain management services, and evaluation & management visits.
Review operative notes, procedure documentation, and provider documentation for coding accuracy.
Assign anesthesia modifiers and ensure proper coding compliance.
Validate documentation supports billed services.
Identify documentation gaps and coding opportunities.
Support specialty coding workflows within a Professional Revenue Cycle pod structure.
Provide cross-coverage support for related specialties as needed.
Maintain productivity, quality, and accuracy standards.
Collaborate with coding leadership, providers, and revenue cycle teams.
Required Qualifications
CPC certification required.
Epic Experience
Professional anesthesia coding experience required.
Strong experience with physician/professional fee coding.
Experience coding Evaluation & Management (E/M) services required.
Experience coding pain management services required.
Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifier usage.
Ability to interpret complex medical documentation.
Experience working independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
