Fiber Laser Operator

Job Title: Cutting Operator Reports To: Production Supervisor SUMMARY To ensure efficient, productive, and safe operations within the cutting department and operate machinery such as Fiber/CO2 lasers and turrets. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for following daily schedules and meeting production goals and reporting any issues throughout the day. 2. Responsible for quality control. Ability to produce quality parts within company/customer specifications, adjust as necessary, reject product outside of specifications. 3. Accurately log and complete daily production paperwork, data collection information, quality sheets, counts, and material tags. 4. Must follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards. 5. Maintain a clean and safe work area. 6. Responsible for setup and operation of all production processes for Fiber/CO2 lasers and turrets. 7. Ability to troubleshoot equipment for lasers and turrets, including but not limited to tasks such as nozzle changes, tape shots, lens focusing, feed rates, gas pressure, tool sharpness, punching sequences, die clearances, etc. 8. Monitor all supplies, consumables, and tooling for the laser room and communicate needs to supervisor. 9. Maintain turret tooling inventory and organization of turret tools. 10. Participate in continuous improvement projects in the cutting department. 11. Must have dependable, reliable, on time attendance. 12. Be actively engaged in the training of the above responsibilities as needed. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Identify/Improve areas in reducing scrap/waste, improving costs and lead times. Assist in other areas of production as necessary. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery. Understand/interpret blueprint reading normally acquired through 1 to 3 years of manufacturing experience. Basic computer skills. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection & work boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
