We offer patients convenient access to innovative treatments and advancements that improve the health and overall well-being of our community.ResponsibilitiesIdentifies diet orders including enteral feedings from computerized/written/faxed sheets by reading and properly processing different diet ordersUpdates patient recordsPrints labels for patients and provides supplies for parents related to human breast milkRecords and updates relative information from all sources (written, computerized, verbal) to individual patient recordsRecords appropriate dietary intake of patients on standardized formsAdheres to and follows the Breast Milk Feeding in the NICU protocolChecks current patient orders daily for accuracyPrepares human milk according to patient orderMaintains stock levels for supplies distributed to parents and supplies needed to prepare human milkEnsures charges for suppliesOrders supplies as needed for the NICU Milk Room including human milk products through PurchasingNotifies Dietitians/Nurse Manager of nutritional patient problems, requests, and complaintsPrepares human milk formula sheets providing calculations and formulations for the day, maintains records as needed by the departmentModels essential service behaviors, such as excellent communication and customer service skills with patients, nursing staff, team members and visitors, interacting cooperatively and constructively and communicating in an open, honest, gracious and compassionate manner at all times, including person to person, telephone and written formsInteracts appropriately with a culturally diverse populationFollows chain of command when communicating departmental and individual concerns or problems, participates in departmental meetings and all related in-services and performance improvement activitiesKnowledgeable of Patient Satisfaction goalsWorks consistently to exceed the department's and USA Health Children's & Women's Hospital's objectives by reporting concerns and suggesting creative ideasCommunicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team in person and via telephoneResponds to overhead pagesPerforms math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage, ratio, and proportionMaintains accurate and complete records related to collection, storage, preparation, calculations, and distribution of formula/human milk productsPrepares and delivers formula/human breast milk feedings according to policy and procedure dietitian or standard instructions based on physician/provider's ordersAccepts and completes all duties positively and without conflictCooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unitCompletes all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirementsUtilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the jobAdheres to current Infection Control and Safety StandardsAbides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's valuesAdheres to hospital policies including confidentiality, assists with training and orienting new employeesRequires minimal supervision to safely perform patient care/essential functionsUtilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment/supplies that are necessary to perform essential functionsParticipates on committees as assignedParticipates in Performance Improvement activities as assignedCompletes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirementsAdheres to current Infection Control and Safety StandardsRegular and prompt attendanceAbility to work schedule as defined and overtime as requiredRelated duties as assignedAdditional InformationEmployees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent RequiredFood Handlers Card Possession of a current Food Handler’s permit RequiredComparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesBasic math and computer skills are required.
