Job Description Job Opportunity: Child and Adolescent PsychiatristOur organization is looking for a full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the Child Section of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DPBS). This position will focus 90% on clinical responsibilities and 10% on administrative, educational, and research activities. The selected candidate will report directly to the Chief of the Child Psychiatry Section and will receive a faculty appointment with the University of Oklahoma.Opportunity OverviewJoin our expanding team of pediatric specialists at the Oklahoma Children's Hospital. Failure to perform these tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, may lead to disqualification from the position:Conducting psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients' conditions, disorders, safety, or disabilities.Diagnosing medical, mental health, affective, and developmental disorders.Creating treatment plans and leading treatment teams utilizing individual, group, expressive, and family therapies, while assessing the need for psychiatric medications as appropriate.Determining the suitable level of patient care, including hospitalization needs and discharge planning, along with completing necessary orders.Supporting patients in navigating challenging situations.Educating family members or guardians on how to support patients effectively.Collaborating with healthcare providers, social services, community organizations, and legal systems as needed.Engaging in continuing education activities.Supervising general residents, pediatric residents, students, and child fellows.Ensuring timely documentation for assessments, follow-ups, admissions, and discharges.Participating in scholarly activities.Reviewing patient cases for insurance utilization.Arranging adequate follow-up mental health services for patients.General ResponsibilitiesPerforming additional duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsMedical degree and a valid Oklahoma Medical License.Board certification in general psychiatry.Completion of an accredited child fellowship program.Board eligible in Child Psychiatry.Experience managing complex clinical cases.Ability to perform under pressure and handle challenging inquiries.Capability to work with and lead an interdisciplinary team.Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities.Strong teaching, analytical, and scholarly skills.Experience in program development is a plus.ExperienceA minimum of 2 years of experience, including training, is required.Licensure as a psychiatrist in the State of Oklahoma is mandatory.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to build and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.Knowledge of evidence-based psychiatric assessments, interventions, and consultations.Experience in research, program development, and/or quality improvement is beneficial.Benefits and Working ConditionsWe are an equal opportunity employer and provide a comprehensive benefits package, which includes paid time off (PTO), a 401(k) plan, medical and dental insurance, among other offerings.
