Experienced Dump and flat Body Installer
We are looking for experienced welders/fabricators to install truck bodies (light, medium and heavy-duty trucks), dump bodies, flatbeds, and all other types of custom work from hitches, lift gates, hoists, and lights.
The Fabricator performs layout, fabrication, fixtures and welding, and/or installation of weldments used in new and modified truck and trailer chassis and components, working with hydraulics. The Fabricator must be able to work accurately from design drawings.
Proficient in an arc, MIG welding steel oxy-acetylene and plasma cutting of materials; and oxy-acetylene heating of materials.
Prepare and/or modify components for current or revised applications.
Prepare documentation for and/or following manuals and process documents.
Creation of updating of bills of materials and feedback to parts, operations, and engineering.
Read and understand job orders and schedule work procedures and parts.
Demonstrate a high level of proficiency and cost-effectiveness in the completion of work products in order to minimize re-work and time delays in final projects being provided to customers and dealerships.
General understanding of Class 7 and 8 trucks to include chassis, engine, and driveline; understanding of reasons for torque settings.
General understanding of installation and use of vehicle hydraulic pumps, motors, and piping.
Knowledge of welding gases to include properly securing bottles, hoses, and regulators. General understanding of vehicle compressed air systems. Demonstrated knowledge of the safe use and changing of compressed propane used to power fork trucks.
General understanding of vehicle control, starting, charging, and lighting systems and circuits and the need to carefully maintain vehicle grounding during welding operations.
Fabricate steel components for truck bodies, e.g. flatbeds, stake beds, dump bodies;
Cut, weld, make repairs to truck body floors, rails, fabrication;
Weld steel components using MIG and ARC Welding Equipment;
Cut steel using torch or plasma cutter;
Have the ability to install truck lift gates and lift gate components;
Understand and be proficient in installing Power-Take Off Units;
Follow all safety policies and procedures;
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
This role is for an experienced fabricator only.
Fabricator Duties:
Shear, Brake, and Band-saw operation
Metal fabrication
Forklift Operator
Assist where needed in other parts of the shop
Requirements:
1-3 Years Relevant Experience
Shear, & Band-Saw Experience
Detail Oriented
Able to lift 50+ lbs.
Read a tape measure
