Admissions Coordinator – Service Access TeamWestern Tidewater Community Services Board is seeking an Admissions Coordinator to join our Service Access team. This position plays an important role in helping individuals in need of behavioral health services connect to the right level of care, including crisis receiving and residential services. The Central Admissions Specialist works closely with clinical staff, hospitals, community partners, and internal programs to ensure referrals are reviewed promptly and individuals receive timely support.This position is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and interested in gaining experience in crisis services, service coordination, and behavioral health systems of care.Position Overview:The Admissions Coordinator is part of our “Central Admissions” department and is responsible for reviewing incoming referrals, coordinating admission decisions with clinical staff, and supporting the intake and placement process for individuals needing crisis or residential behavioral health services. This role works as part of a team and follows established guidelines and supervision to ensure safe and appropriate admissions.Responsibilities and Duties for Admissions Coordinator:o  Review incoming referrals from hospitals, law enforcement, community providers, and internal programso  Gather and organize referral information to support admission decisionso  Coordinate with clinical staff to determine appropriate placement based on program criteriao  Assist with scheduling intakes and coordinating the admission processo  Communicate with referring providers regarding referral status and next stepso  Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and in a timely mannero  Support crisis receiving and residential programs with admission coordinationo  Maintain organized records in accordance with agency and regulatory requirementso  Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely access to services Qualifications and Skills: o  Bachelor’s in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.o  Previous experience in behavioral health, case management, intake, crisis services, or human services preferred.o  Working knowledge of mental health disorders and trauma-informed care.o  Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. o  Strong communication and organizational skills with the desire to interact compassionately with individuals in crisis.
