Assistant Bakery Manager
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To assist the Bakery Manager in planning and managing the Bakery Department and to assist with daily production and operational functions. To contribute toward ensure a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.
NATURE AND SCOPE: Emphasis in the Assistant Bakery Manager position is to be able to provide back-up assistance to the Bakery Manager, and to assist with daily bakery functions. The primary challenge is effective production planning and consistently producing quality product. Baking proficiency with all products is required. This position requires ongoing judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, listening skills, reading, writing, math, moderate lifting, walking and standing. Position functions and work hours may vary according to business needs. The Bakery Manager provides assignments and work direction.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS OF ASSISTANT BAKERY MANAGER
Assist with Bakery Manager functions
Resolve vendor problems
Train and supervise bakery employees
Write production lists and assignment lists
Implement or adjust merchandising plan
Perform all baker functions
Ensure proper proofing
Complete oven work
Complete next day preparations
Assist with wrapping and stocking
Assist in receiving functions
Assist customers with requests and information
Assist with special orders by ensuring that orders are prepared accurately and on time
Provide product information and location
Ensure work area and sales floor area is clean and safe
Ensure spills and messes are cleaned up
Maintain equipment and clean it
Use proper procedures when operating equipment
Follow all store and department policies and procedures
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF ASSISTANT BAKERY MANAGER
Physical
Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.
Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
Equipment operation (mixer, scraper, scales, knives, proofer, oven, timer, decorating tubes, lazy Susan, wrapping machine, racks, labeler, bread slicer, calculator, spatula, cleaning utensils, telephone)
Reaching, turning, walking, sitting, standing, squatting, kneeling, stooping, bending, climbing ladders.
