Controller - Multifamily Real Estate PortfolioWe are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a growing multifamily real estate portfolio. This is a highly visible leadership role that works directly with ownership to support financial strategy, portfolio performance, and operational growth.This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader with strong real estate experience who enjoys both managing day-to-day accounting operations and contributing to high-level financial planning.Financial & Property AccountingOversee full-cycle accounting for a multifamily portfolio including general ledger, AP/AR, tenant ledgers, and month-end closePrepare property-level and consolidated financial statementsLead annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planningAnalyze portfolio performance and present variance reports to ownershipMaintain strong internal controls and improve accounting processesPayroll & HR AdministrationOversee payroll processing through ADP, including GL coding and reconciliationEnsure compliance with payroll tax filings, W-2 and 1099 reportingSupport light HR administration including onboarding documentationOwnership & Strategic Financial SupportServe as the financial liaison to ownership, CPAs, and external advisorsSupport entity-level reporting, trust accounting, and ownership structuresAssist with long-term financial planning and portfolio growth initiativesLeadershipManage and mentor a small accounting teamPartner closely with property management and operations teamsPresent financial insights clearly to leadership and stakeholderWhat We're Looking For7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience4+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership roleExperience with multifamily or real estate portfolio accountingStrong knowledge of Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or AppFolioExperience managing ADP payroll and compliance reportingAdvanced Excel and financial analysis skillsExperience working with family-owned businesses or real estate ownership groups is a plusBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business preferredCPA preferred but not requiredWhy This Role Stands OutLeadership role with direct exposure to ownershipOpportunity to support a growing real estate portfolioInfluence both financial operations and strategic planningCollaborative environment with a small, experienced team#ZIPDHBGSF is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
