Grants & Contracts Accouting Intern
Position SummaryThe Grants & Contracts Intern will support the Finance Grants team with grant administration, invoice preparation, reconciliations, reporting support, and document management. This internship provides hands-on experience in nonprofit grant accounting, financial reporting, compliance monitoring, and grants management processes.The intern will work closely with the Grants & Contracts team and program staff to support timely invoicing, accurate recordkeeping, and compliance with grantor requirements.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesTo perform this internship successfully, the individual should be able to assist with the following duties:Assist with preparation of grant and contract invoices for submission to funding agencies.Support maintenance of grant files, including agreements, budgets, invoices, reconciliations, and correspondence.Assist with reviewing expenditures and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.Help prepare monthly budget versus actual expenditure reports.Support monthly grant reconciliations and tracking of accounts receivable balances.Follow up on outstanding invoice payments and assist with receivable tracking reports.Assist with organizing financial documentation for audits, monitoring visits, and grant reporting.Support data entry and financial tracking within Sage Intacct and Excel spreadsheets.Assist with maintaining grant spending trackers and allocation schedules.Work collaboratively with Finance and program staff on grant-related requests.Perform other administrative and finance-related duties as assigned.QualificationsThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the internship.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial information.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Interest in nonprofit finance, grants management, or healthcare accounting preferred.Experience with accounting software or Sage Intacct is a plus but not required.Language RequirementsAbility to communicate proficiently in English is required. Additional language skills are a plus.Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit, use hands and arms, and work on a computer for extended periods.
