Granville County Animal Services is seeking a dedicated and caring Animal Shelter Attendant to help provide quality care for animals and support our mission to promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide daily care for shelter animals—including feeding, watering, grooming, and observing for health concerns
Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and shelter facilities to maintain health and safety standards
Administer basic medications and vaccinations under guidance
Maintain accurate records related to intake, care, and veterinary treatment
Assist with adoptions, pet reclaims, and public inquiries—delivering excellent customer service
Support humane euthanasia procedures when necessary
Maintain shelter grounds and monitor supply inventory
What You Bring
A love for animals and a strong sense of responsibility
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in animal care (personal or professional) preferred
Ability to obtain Rabies Vaccinator Certification
Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
Professionalism, compassion, and a strong work ethic
Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of basic animal care and handling
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stress situations
Detail-oriented with good recordkeeping skills
Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
Physically able to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally and perform active duties throughout the day
