Application Engineer

Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsProvide technical support for products in the field, offering guidance to improve installations and troubleshoot problematic installations/operations.Assist the sales team with product training for customers, engineering firms, and contractors. This includes theoretical (classroom/webinar presentations) and hands-on product training, including the complete set-up and running of customer demonstrations.Frequent telephone, virtual, and written contact with customers, engineering firms, sales channels, and factory personnel.Field visits to customers to make presentations, assess applications, educate them on our value propositions, or troubleshoot.Educate customers on company equipment, upgrades, or other add-ons in an attempt to make a more profitable sale.Develop reports, correspondence, specifications, and technical calculations. Prepare technical data and papers for sales personnel, customers, and publications using good internal presentation and report writing skills.Maintain project records, general engineering & technical records, and contribute to the proper documentation recording in our engineering department per ISO procedures.Document all engineering work in CRM Project Manager.Maintain, update, and sort Autodesk drawing files and Vault. Create drawings, models, and others as needed by engineering through Autodesk software or other programs.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational training; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional tradeshows and events.Identify, prevent, and resolve customer concerns. Collaborate with internal departments to accomplish BFC sales and service goals to meet customer expectations. Based on ideas and input from customers, develop concepts for new products and services that the company might offer. Present concepts to the management team including revenue and cost estimates, and technical expertise required.Demonstrate integrity under all circumstances, follow policies and procedures as detailed in the company Employee Handbook.Provide backup for other positions as necessary and fulfill any other tasks as requested and assigned by management.Experience and TrainingSkills/Qualifications:Advanced engineering and math skills, strong communication abilities, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, sales and customer service, meeting sales goals, closing skills, prospecting skills, negotiation, self-confidence, product knowledge, presentation skills, client relationships, motivation for sales, and engineering.Required:3+ years of engineering experience in a technical and/or sales roleTravel based on customer requirements, projects, training, and other relevant business needsUnderstanding of abstract principles behind fluid dynamics and pressure vesselsAbility to work well under pressure and with time constraints, including handling additional projects as assignedComplete and retain current safety certifications at all times, including but not limited to company’s Safety Training Requirements and applicable lawsDesirable:Prior experience in industrial manufacturing specific to pumps and fluid controlFamiliar with ASME Section VIII Division 1 code for pressure vesselsKnowledge of customer service and sales processes for industrial manufacturing and distribution managementSpecific knowledge related to plastics, metals, and casts/moldsExperience with ISO and other QC programsEducation:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent field is requiredMaster’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent field is desirable
