Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Prior Authorization Specialist to join our growing team. This full-time hybrid position is based in the Beaverton/Tigard area and requires working three days in the clinic, with the flexibility to work remotely for two days each week. The Prior Authorization Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and timely approvals for medical procedures, working closely with insurance companies, physicians, and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Prior Authorization Management:
Submit and track prior authorization requests for medical procedures, clinic visit, and treatments.
Follow up with insurance companies to secure timely approvals and resolve any issues.
Communicate status updates to physicians and patients.
Insurance Verification:
Verify insurance coverage and benefits for procedures requiring prior authorization.
Ensure the necessary documentation and clinical information are accurately provided to insurers.
Patient Coordination:
Educate patients on the prior authorization process, possible delays, and any out-of-pocket costs.
Assist in rescheduling appointments if authorizations are delayed or denied.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain accurate records of all prior authorizations in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies regarding patient data.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
1-2 years of experience in prior authorization, medical billing, or healthcare administration.
Experience working with insurance companies and navigating the authorization process is essential.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and general computer applications.
