Location: Boston, MA (Mostly Remote – Must Reside in Boston Area)Contract: 9–12 Month ContractBusiness and Data Analyst (Pharmaceutical – RX Domain)Team: Commercial Excellence (Business-side role, not IT)Summary of RequirementThis role requires a combination of business analyst and data analyst skills. It is positioned on the business side, not IT. Candidates must have experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically on the RX side.Profiles focused only on data engineering or technical skills like Python, R, or SQL without relevant business or pharma experience are not suitable.Key Experience RequiredThe candidate must have a strong pharmaceutical background and be familiar with RX domain work. They should be comfortable working with stakeholders across different functional units.A strong understanding of patient-level data is important. Experience working with third-party pharmaceutical datasets such as IQVIA (including LAD data) and MMIT is highly preferred. This helps reduce the learning curve and allows the candidate to contribute quickly.Candidates from other industries such as finance or retail are not a fit for this role.Core Responsibilities:Data Analysis and Data Quality The candidate should be able to identify data anomalies, gaps, and quality issues. They should investigate data-related problems, suggest solutions, and help implement data quality checks. Ensuring data integrity and usability is a key part of the role.KPI Management and Reporting The role involves working with Power BI reports and managing KPIs used in the RX domain. The candidate should validate KPI accuracy, investigate issues when KPIs are incorrect, and work with stakeholders to ensure business requirements are properly reflected.Business Analysis The candidate will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical vendors. They should be able to translate technical documentation into clear business language. Responsibilities include defining KPIs, documenting business rules, and ensuring inclusion and exclusion criteria are clearly captured from a business perspective.Stakeholder and Vendor Management The candidate will work with multiple stakeholders across RX teams and coordinate with external vendors. They should be able to manage requests, track issues, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely delivery with minimal supervision.Technical SkillsBasic knowledge of tools such as SQL, Python, or R is acceptable. However, the role is not focused on heavy technical development. The emphasis is on applying data insights in a business context.Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate will have a strong mix of business understanding and data analysis skills within the pharmaceutical domain. They should be able to work independently, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and translate technical outputs into business insights.Experience working with vendors and managing stakeholder expectations is important. Basic organizational and task management skills, such as maintaining logs and tracking requests, are also beneficial.Overall ExpectationThis is not a pure data engineering role. The candidate is expected to understand pharmaceutical data, ensure data quality, manage KPIs, and bridge the gap between business and technical teams effectively.
