Solid Waste Engineer - Project Manager

Job DescriptionAs a Solid Waste Engineering Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Nashville, TN office, you'll support the design, analysis, permitting, and preparation of drawings and technical specifications for solid waste disposal facilities, including coal combustion residual (CCR) and industrial facilities. You'll perform a variety of engineering tasks – landfill system design, leachate and stormwater infrastructure, gas collection systems, site roadways, support structures – and contribute to technical report preparation, permit applications, construction documents, cost estimates, and solid waste management plans. You'll collaborate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies from conceptual design through permitting, bidding, and construction, while mentoring junior staff to ensure successful project delivery.Qualifications5+ years of experience in design, permitting, document preparation, and construction quality assurance of waste disposal facilitiesCoordinate regulatory agency review and permitting processes for complex projectsBachelor of Science in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering; Master of Science preferredProfessional Engineering Licensure or ability to obtain Tennessee licensureApply consulting project business practices and project delivery methodsManage projects and lead teams to deliver on scope, schedule, and budgetWrite technical reports, proposals, and other project documentationProficient in Microsoft Office and Autodesk Civil 3DPreferred CapabilitiesLead multidisciplinary teams on complex waste disposal or environmental projectsDevelop and implement strategies for regulatory compliance and permitting efficiencyMentor junior engineers and staffExperience with client development or business growth initiativesKey ResponsibilitiesLead design, analysis, permitting, and construction-phase services for solid waste, coal combustion residual (CCR), and industrial waste management facilitiesOversee landfill system design, including liners, leachate and stormwater infrastructure, gas collection systems, site roadways, and support structuresPrepare technical reports, permit applications, construction documents, specifications, cost estimates, and solid waste management plansConduct field and office coordination with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project teams to ensure project successMentor and supervise junior engineers and technical staff, supporting professional development and project deliveryEnsure regulatory compliance and quality of project deliverables in accordance with client expectations and engineering standardsBenefitsvision insurance, tuition assistance, 401(k), profit sharingEqual Opportunity Employer StatementCEC is an equal opportunity employer.
