Job Description
- Registered Nurse (Pediatric Practice)
Reports to: Center Administrator
Dotted Line Reporting: Chief Medical Officer
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Practice supports clinical operations by providing patient care, assisting providers, and ensuring high-quality, patient-centered service delivery. This role performs many of the same functions as Medical Assistants while utilizing advanced clinical training and licensure to support more complex patient care needs, clinical decision-making, and care coordination. The RN helps ensure compliance with clinical protocols, enhances patient outcomes, and contributes to an efficient and effective clinic environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document patient history accurately in the EMR
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
- Administer medications, injections, and immunizations in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
- Perform clinical assessments and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating as appropriate
- Provide wound care, basic treatments, and follow-up care as directed
Care Coordination & Patient Education
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and preventive care
- Provide guidance on pediatric care, including immunizations, growth and development, and chronic condition management
- Coordinate care with providers, specialists, and external resources as needed
- Support follow-up care, referrals, and continuity of care
Workflow & Clinical Operations
- Support efficient patient flow and clinic operations
- Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked, sanitized, and prepared
- Assist with scheduling coordination and patient throughput
- Collaborate with Medical Assistants and front office staff to maintain smooth operations
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation
- Follow all clinical protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support audit readiness and compliance with payer and organizational standards
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with providers, Medical Assistants, and administrative staff
- Provide guidance and support to Medical Assistants when needed
- Participate in team meetings, training, and performance improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Pediatric or outpatient clinical experience preferred
- Experience in a physician practice or clinic setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of clinical procedures, patient care, and nursing standards
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Work Environment / Physical Demands
This role requires frequent standing, walking, and use of computers and clinical equipment. May occasionally lift or move items up to 25 lbs.
Schedule / Hours
This is a full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends based on clinic needs.
