Business Manager, New Product Development
The Business Manager, New Product Development leads the evaluation, development, and commercialization planning of new product innovation initiatives at Wedgewood.This role manages multiple concurrent innovation initiatives across the product development pipeline and plays a critical role in improving innovation decision quality, accelerating development timelines, and ensuring resources are focused on opportunities with the highest strategic and financial potential. It serves as the product-level business owner for innovation projects, translating strategic priorities into validated opportunities with strong market rationale, financial discipline, and cross-functional execution plans.Working closely with R&D, operational, and commercial partners, this role leads cross-functional teams through Wedgewood's innovation Stage-Gate process to ensure the right ideas advance and are developed efficiently with clear commercial value.When will you work?Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. This is a remote position with some travel requirements and will require flexibility.What you'll do:Innovation Opportunity DevelopmentIdentify and evaluate new product opportunities aligned with Wedgewood's innovation strategy.Conduct market research, customer insight gathering, and competitive analysis to validate unmet needs.Define product concepts including value proposition, target customer segments, and differentiation.Business Case DevelopmentBuild comprehensive business cases for innovation projects including revenue forecasts, pricing strategy, demand modeling, and margin analysis.Assess financial, technical, regulatory, and commercial risks to inform investment decisions.Cross-Functional Project LeadershipLead cross-functional project teams across R&D, Clinical Services, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial.Manage project timelines, milestones, and dependencies to advance initiatives through development.Identify and escalate risks while providing solution-oriented recommendations.Product Strategy & Development PlanningTranslate market needs into clear product requirements guiding formulation development and clinical research.Ensure alignment between product concept, technical feasibility, and commercial opportunity.Stage-Gate Process LeadershipPrepare innovation projects for Stage-Gate reviews including opportunity assessments and business case recommendations.Present project updates and advancement recommendations to internal leadership stakeholders.Commercialization PlanningPartner with Product Marketing and Commercial teams to support early go-to-market strategy development.Ensure positioning, pricing logic, and value messaging are clearly defined ahead of launch readiness.Decision OwnershipDevelop and own product-level opportunity assessments and business cases.Lead cross-functional teams for assigned innovation initiatives.Recommend Stage-Gate advancement, pivot, or termination decisions.Present project insights and recommendations to leadership.Portfolio prioritization, innovation strategy, and resource allocation remain the responsibility of the Director, Innovation & Product Development.Who you are:Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across technical, operational, and commercial teams.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Experience in veterinary pharmaceuticals, healthcare, biotechnology, or related industries.Experience managing proprietary brand or innovation portfolios.Strategic thinking and business acumenMarket opportunity assessment and product strategyFinancial modeling and commercial analysisCross-functional leadership and influenceStructured problem solving and decision supportWhat you've done:7-10+ years of experience in product strategy, product development, innovation management, or category management.Demonstrated experience bringing new products from concept through development and commercialization.Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, including business case development and demand forecasting.Market opportunity assessment and product strategyFinancial modeling and commercial analysisCross-functional leadership and influenceStructured problem solving and decision supportStructured product development or Stage-Gate innovation processes.What's in it for you:A comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and flexible spending accounts401(k) retirement plan with a generous company contribution to help you save for the futureCompany Paid Life and disability insuranceAccess to voluntary insurance optionsA generous paid time off program that increases every yearTuition reimbursementOpportunity for growth - We believe in promoting from within and do so through our internal job posting program!Compensation Range: $125,000-$135,000 commensurate with the individual's experience and qualifications.About UsWedgewood is the nation's largest and most trusted provider of compounded veterinary medications.
