Salary: $15.30 HourlyLocation : Pocopson Home - West Chester, PAJob Type: Part TimeJob Number: 04014Department: Pocopson HomeDivision: Pocopson Resident ActivitiesOpening Date: 09/11/2025Closing Date: ContinuousWeekly Hours: 18.8Shift: 8 am - NoonSummaryThe Activity Aide assists recreation therapists on and off their units with all aspects of therapeutic activities involving residents of Pocopson Home.Essential DutiesOne-on-one socialization with residents on and off units.Transport residents to areas of activity on and off units.Hold discussion groups, using various materials to promote interaction, communication and reminiscence and provide activity programming (independent of therapist).Gather materials relevant to group type.Observe residents and report anything unusual or different in a resident's behavior and/or appearance.Assist residents on outside bus trips to embark, debark and transport at destination.Shop for residents.Assist with activity calendars and filing.Assist with the necessary paperwork when covering units.Help cover activities on evenings, weekends and holidays, as scheduled.Participate in in-service education.Help cover units when needed.Participate in activities and department meetings.Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).Six months to one year of job-related experience and/or training.Strong communication skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.Treats others with respect and consideration.Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.Ability to use common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions.Accurate and detail oriented.Ability to remain focused on daily operations.Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives.Easily adapts to changes in the work environment.Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Flexibility.Strong customer service skills.Self-motivatedAdditional InformationRelevant background checks, clearances, physicals, drug tests, and any other assessments or evaluations will be conducted after an offer of employment is given per County policy.Computer Skills:Basic computer skills in word processing needed.Education and instruction on computer programs relating to Pocopson Home will be taught and needed for job.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs, push items, talk or hear, and taste or smell. Occasionally, the employee will need to sit; reach above shoulders; bend at the waist or work bent at the waist; kneel, stoop, crouch or squat; and drive a vehicle.
