Tosca Automation Architect
Role OverviewThe Tosca Automation Architect / Lead is responsible for defining, designing, and governing the enterprise test automation architecture using Tricentis Tosca, while also leading delivery teams to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable automation solutions. This role serves as both technical authority and handson leader, driving automation strategy across programs and aligning it with business, quality, and DevOps goals. Key ResponsibilitiesAutomation Architecture & Strategy (Architect Focus)Define enterprisewide test automation architecture using Tricentis Tosca Design scalable, modular, and reusable automation frameworks aligned with MBTA principles Establish automation standards, guidelines, and best practices Define tooling strategy around Tosca ecosystem Tosca Commander DEX (Distributed Execution) Test Data Management (TDM) BI & Reporting Evaluate feasibility and ROI of automation for new applications and technologies Ensure solution alignment with security, compliance, and enterprise architecture standardsTechnical Leadership & Delivery (Lead Focus)Lead automation implementation across multiple teams or projects Provide hands-on support for: Complex automation scenarios; API, SAP, and end-to-end workflow automation Conduct architecture and code reviews for Tosca assets Mentor and upskill automation engineers and leads Resolve critical automation issues and framework challenges Tosca Automation Design & ImplementationDesign Tosca TestCases using ModelBased Test Automation (MBTA)Create reusable: Modules, Test Case Templates, Recovery Scenarios Implement automation for: Desktop applications, API (REST/SOAP via Tosca API Scan), Packaged and legacy applications Ensure optimal execution stability and maintainability CI/CD, DevOps & Continuous TestingIntegrate Tosca automation into CI/CD pipelinesEnable: Continuous testing, Shift-Left testing strategy Configure and manage: Execution Lists, Distributed Execution environments Optimize execution cycles and parallel testing Stakeholder & Program EngagementPartner with: Architects, Product Owners, QA Managers, DevOps and Release teams Translate business and technical requirements into automation architecture Provide automation roadmaps, estimations, and execution plans Present automation metrics and value realization to leadership Governance, Metrics & QualityDefine automation KPIs such as: Automation coverage, Execution success rate, Defect leakage, Reusability ratio Ensure consistent adoption of automation standards Support audits and compliance testing initiatives Required Skills & QualificationsCore Technical SkillsExpertlevel proficiency in Tricentis ToscaTosca Commander Modules, TestCases, ExecutionLists API Automation SAP Automation (if applicable) Strong understanding of test automation architecture and framework designExperience with: Agile / SAFe / Scrum, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab) Solid understanding of STLC, SDLC, and QA best practices Leadership & Consulting SkillsProven ability to lead large or distributed automation teams Strong stakeholder communication and influencing skills Ability to make architectural decisions and justify trade-offs Hands-on yet strategic mindset Experience Requirements10–14+ years of overall testing experience 6–8+ years of hands-on Tosca automation experience Prior experience as: Automation Lead, Automation Architect, Enterprise QA Architect Education & CertificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent Tricentis Tosca Certification (AS1 / AS2 / AS3) – strongly preferred NicetoHave SkillsPerformance testing tools (Azure app testing, LoadRunner) Test management tools (Azure Test Plan, Jira) Cloud exposure (Azure) Experience with enterprise transformation programs
