Salary: $12.00 Hourly Location : La Marque City Hall, TX Job Type: Part-Time Department: Administration Opening Date: 05/18/2026 FLSA: Non-Exempt Description The City of La Marque is excited to launch its Summer 2026 Internship Program, a paid six-week opportunity designed to provide students and young adults with real-world workplace experience, professional development, and hands-on exposure to local government operations. This program is focused on workforce development, career exploration, professional skill-building, and meaningful municipal experience. Interns will work directly alongside City staff while learning how local government departments support and serve the community every day. Whether you are interested in public service, technology, communications, emergency services, administration, or community development, this program is designed to help participants gain practical experience while developing valuable professional skills that can support future educational and career goals. Examples of Duties Program Structure Mondays - Professional Development & Workforce Readiness Interns will report to City Hall each Monday for interactive workforce development sessions coordinated by Human Resources and City leadership. Topics may include:Workplace professionalismResume buildingInterview preparationLeadership developmentNetworking and communication skillsTime management and accountabilityEmail etiquetteFinancial literacy and life skillsMental wellness and work-life balanceCareer exploration within local government Interns will also have opportunities to hear directly from City leaders, department representatives, and community professionals throughout the program. Tuesday-Thursday - Department Placement Experience Interns will be assigned to one primary City department for the duration of the six-week program. Participants will work directly with City staff while gaining practical experience through:Shadowing opportunitiesDepartment projects and assignmentsAdministrative and operational supportCareer exposure activitiesPublic service and municipal operations experience Department placements will be based on:Operational needsSupervisor availabilityApplicant interest areasProgram goals During the application and interview process, applicants will be asked which departments or career areas they are most interested in exploring.
