Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Process Safety and Risk Analysis Engineer Intern opportunity in Johnson City, TN.Job Title: Process Safety and Risk Analysis Engineer InternPosition OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and analytical Process Safety and Risk Analysis Engineer Intern to support operational safety, hazard identification, and risk reduction initiatives within a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in process safety management, risk assessment methodologies, incident prevention, and environmental health & safety programs.The intern will work alongside engineering and operations professionals to help improve process reliability, reduce operational risk, and support compliance with industry safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) including:HAZOPWhat-If analysesFailure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)Risk ranking and mitigation reviewsSupport Process Safety Management (PSM) and operational risk programsParticipate in incident investigations and root cause analysis activitiesHelp identify and evaluate: Process hazards, Equipment risks, Chemical handling risks, Operational vulnerabilitiesReview: Standard operating procedures (SOPs), Risk assessment documentation, Emergency response procedures, Safety protocolsConduct field safety inspections and risk assessmentsAssist with Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management and chemical inventory reviewsAnalyze operational and safety data to identify trends and improvement opportunitiesSupport continuous improvement and operational excellence initiativesQualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree in:Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Nuclear EngineeringEnvironmental Health & SafetyEnvironmental EngineeringRisk ManagementRelated technical disciplineStrong interest in: Process safety, Industrial risk analysis, Hazard mitigation, Manufacturing operations, Safety systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and technical writing abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work independently and collaboratively in team environmentsPreferred Coursework Or ExperienceCoursework or experience in any of the following is preferred:Process safety managementRisk analysisHazardous materials managementEnvironmental complianceProcess operationsChemistry or chemical handlingSafety engineering principlesOther Job RequirementsUnited States CitizenshipIf you are interested in being considered for this position and your resume clearly outlines your relevant experience for this position, please follow the application steps via our website: www.edgewatertech.net/careersEdgewater will not submit your resume without first having detailed discussions with you and obtaining your permission to do so.
