TITLE: Focus Room Paraprofessional at Dogwood, Hawthorn and Oak Ridge - 26/27Position SummaryThe Camdenton R-III School District is seeking a dedicated Elementary School Focus Room Paraprofessional to join our team. The successful candidate will provide targeted support to students requiring intensive behavioral, emotional, or academic intervention outside of the traditional classroom setting. Key responsibilities include facilitating individual student growth in both academic and interpersonal skills while maintaining a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment.At Camdenton R-III, we are committed to fostering a culture of "Everyone Learning Every Day."Qualifications60 hours college credit or completion of the Para-Pro Assessment TestPass all background checks and screenings.GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Board Policy for Staff ConductREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalEssential Functions And Key ResponsibilitiesImplement behavior intervention plans (BIPs), de-escalate emotional outbursts, and manage challenging behaviors such as aggression or disruption.Monitor students in a designated "focus room" or in-house suspension room to ensure safety and compliance with school rules.Assist students with assignments, reading, or math tasks while in the focus room to ensure they stay on track with their studies.Document student behavior, attendance, and progress on academic or behavioral goals for teachers and administrators.Foster a positive, nurturing environment that encourages students to improve their behavior and social skills.Proficient in using computers, internet browsers, and common software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace). Act as a liaison between the student, classroom teachers, and administration, communicating progress or issues.Must strictly adhere to FERPA regulations regarding student information.Terms Of Employment181 days - 7.5 hrs / day (does not include a 30 minute lunch) Pay Range: Begins at $15.48 (plus credit for up to 7 years of relevant experience) Benefits include Board paid health insurance, paid sick leave, retirement and other.EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
