Home Care Aide IThe Home Care Aide I (HCA I) at Care Indeed provides non-medical companionship and personal support to clients in their homes. This role centers on assisting with activities of daily living, including supervision, feeding, dressing, mobility support, light hygiene assistance, and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. HCAs help clients who experience physical limitations, cognitive changes, or need guidance with daily routines remain supported and engaged in the place they call home.This entry-level role offers hands-on caregiving experience and a pathway for growth within Care Indeed. Training and supervised hours may support advancement to Home Care Aide II or III and may contribute toward eligibility for CNA or other healthcare certifications in alignment with California requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide non-medical companionship and supervision to support client engagement, safety, and daily structure.Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, grooming, bathing support, toileting assistance, feeding, and mobility.Support safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning to promote comfort and prevent injury.Assist with light household tasks tied to client well-being, including meal preparation, bed linen changes, and maintaining a clean, organized environment.Encourage participation in routine activities, social interaction, and meaningful engagement based on client interests.Support prescribed exercises and wellness routines as directed by supervising clinical staff.Monitor and report changes in client condition, mood, mobility, or behavior to the care team in a timely manner.Follow established care plans and agency policies related to safety, confidentiality, infection control, and documentation.Participate in team communication and case discussions to ensure coordinated, client-centered care.Maintain professional conduct, reliability, and a compassionate presence in every client interaction.Qualifications & Physical RequirementsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentRegistered as a Home Care Aide (HCA) with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), or eligible and willing to obtain registration prior to assignmentSuccessful completion of required state and federal background clearanceAbility to follow a written care plan and communicate clearly with clients, families, and the care teamProfessional reliability, compassion, and the ability to maintain client confidentialityPreferred QualificationsPrior caregiving, home care, senior care, or healthcare support experienceCurrent CPR/AED and First Aid certificationBilingual fluency aligned with client community needsInterest in advancing toward HHA, CNA, or other healthcare positionsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and assist with client mobility; lift up to 50 pounds; and assist with transfers of clients up to 250 pounds using appropriate equipment or team assistance.Ability to assist with mobility and transfers using equipment such as gait belts, slide boards, mechanical lifts (e.g., Hoyer lifts), wheelchairs, and other transfer devices, in accordance with safety guidelines and the service plan.Sufficient vision and hearing (with correction if needed) to safely perform client care.Ability to safely perform personal care, basic housekeeping, and meal preparation tasks.Licensure/Certification MaintenanceRequired licensure/certification/registration must be maintained throughout employment. Proof of current, valid credentials must be provided upon request.Work Environment & Care SettingsCare is provided in diverse settings, including private homes, assisted or independent living communities, skilled nursing facilities, and hospitals, and involves close, direct interaction with clients. This role may include exposure to blood, body fluids, or other potentially infectious materials. It may require responding appropriately to urgent or emergencies in accordance with training and agency protocols.
