EHR Deployment Engineer (Technical Practitioner)

Salary: $120,000 – $140,000 | Location: 100% Remote in California (semi-frequent travel) | Start: ASAPRole OverviewThe Deployment Engineer (Technical Practitioner) supports the full lifecycle of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system implementation across multiple VA medical centers.The Practitioner performs and organizes discovery efforts at hospitals and clinics related to End User Devices (EUDs), interfaced systems, and Data Drops & Power Outlets (DDPO), then conducts post-discovery analysis to inform technical scope and requirements. Building a working understanding of the client's standard capabilities, devices, and interfaces is essential to meaningful discovery and gap analysis.Through the remainder of the deployment lifecycle, the Practitioner supports device procurement tracking and logistics, owns relationships with local site IT leaders and other technology/network/engineering groups, and supports overall technical readiness for the transition to a new EHR. This includes external vendor management and coordination, cutover planning and support, and project management of engineering activities.ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and execute site discovery for EUDs, interfaced systems, and DDPOPerform post-discovery analysis to define technical scope, requirements, and gapsTrack device procurement and coordinate logistics through deploymentServe as the primary technical point of contact for local site IT leadership and engineering/network teamsCoordinate external vendors supporting site readinessSupport cutover planning and go-live executionManage and report on engineering activities against deployment milestonesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in a relevant field; equivalent experience consideredStrong written and oral communication skillsProficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Project, PowerPoint)Willingness to travel semi-frequently to hospitals and clinics across various geographiesAbility to obtain and maintain a VA Public Trust clearance (background investigation required)Preferred QualificationsPrevious hospital or clinic technical assessment experienceFamiliarity with system interfaces and medical device interfacesExperience with Oracle Health (Cerner) or comparable EHR vendorsPrior federal or VA program experienceWorking ConditionsRemote-first with semi-frequent travel to VA facilities. Significant direct client interaction expected. Must be based in California.
