What is the Role?
We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Reconstruction team.
You will be responsible for overseeing and documenting all phases of commercial/residential reconstruction projects from receiving a job from the mitigation department including but not limited to coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, adjusters, construction consultants, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are followed, work is proceeding with quality on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities include:
Internal Communication
Collaborating with internal claims managers, estimators, permit expeditors and construction project managers to ensure efficient and effective job completion and client communication.
Providing internal updates to upper management, director of construction, project managers, etc.
External Communication
Working closely with occupants, property owners, adjusters, subcontractors, and all interested parties throughout the reconstruction process, including daily updates, calls and more to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Providing technical and engineering support to the client's team including project managers, construction managers, engineers, designers, etc.
Coordinating with architects and engineers for timely and accurate responses to requests for information (RFIs).
Time Management/Organization
Maintaining and distributing current contract plans, timelines, and specifications.
Using meetings, calendaring, and workflow coordination to meet deadlines.
Maintaining project files and drawings organized within company software or programs (i.e., Work Center, Egnyte, Procore).
Documentation
Documenting the progress of construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projects.
Logging photographs, daily project reports and notes as required.
Documenting virtual or onsite meetings, and phone calls with clients, adjusters, consultants or project stakeholders.
Logging and reviewing submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.
Contracting
Ensuring all subcontractors and temporary labor are working under proper agreements (i.e., via Purchase Orders [POs]).
Creating repair agreements and Change Orders for client distribution and execution.
Billing
Coordinating with the accounting department to progress bill the project per the repair agreement payment terms.
Coordinating with the estimating department to provide supplemental estimates/proposals to ensure all scope of work performed is allocated within billing.
Providing project completion progress percentages and updates to CFO.
Permitting
Assisting in obtaining permits specific to the project.
Coordinating with external architects, engineers, and permit expeditors to obtain building permits.
You will report to Stephanie, Senior Reconstruction Project Engineer.
Your role is primarily onsite in our Encino office 5 days a week. There will be occasions when you are needed onsite to assist with job walks, field take-offs, etc.
What is required?
Self-starter & proactive.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft project
Customer service oriented with a proactive, "can do", positive attitude
Comfortable working with ambiguity.
Honest & transparent: never hide the bad news, when something goes wrong, or mistakes happen you escalate it and help to solve it calmly and transparently
Not afraid to jump in where needed - no task is too big or too small for you, and you are willing to help your team before you are asked.
Prior experience in EMS, reconstruction, insurance, is a plus but not required
Must be able to work in person at our Encino office 5 days per week and able to travel to job sites as needed
You are authorized to work lawfully in the United States.
Salary: 30-35$/hour
