1:1 Private Duty Nurse for Teenage Boy
Introduction:
Wrentham, MA family seeking long term LPN or RN for our super sweet and fun 14-year-old boy with physical disability and epilepsy.
About the client: A charming boy who is smart, has a great sense of humor (also the best laugh ever!). He is verbal, but has speech difficulty. He uses a communication device to augment his communication when needed. He loves Roblox, Video Games, Transformers, Legos, and spending time with friends. He uses a power wheelchair and needs help with transfers to wheelchair, toilet, etc. We team lift or use an overhead mechanical lift (he weighs 90 lbs). He eats mostly by g-tube, with a small amount by mouth.
Skilled nursing care includes:
Enteral care/feeds, care r/t seizures, medication administration, skin assessment, assist with ambulation, transfers and repositioning, and assistance with ADL’s.
Looking for:
6:00pm-7:00am - Fridays and Saturdays, as well as Thursdays, Sundays, and Mondays
Ideal Candidate: The family's ideal candidate is someone who LOVES and understands children and knows how to keep things fun and light while working. Must be reliable, attentive, patient, empathetic, and fun/silly (and willing to play Mariokart!). Being able to connect around his interests is extremely important. Must be pet friendly (we have a dog and 2 cats). Non-smokers only.

Job Summary
We are currently seeking motivated, compassionate, and highly skilled Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to work one-on-one with our medically complex pediatric and adult patients at school and in their homes. Nurses with critical care experience, home care experience, pediatric nursing experience, or any nurse with a passion for working with children are encouraged to apply. Essential Functions:
Assist patients on a 1:1 basis, providing all direct patient care ordered by providers, including but not limited to:
> Assessing patients with seizure disorders, responding with appropriate nursing intervention as ordered
> Maintaining feeding tubes and provide enteral care, nutrition, and hydration as ordered
> Providing tracheostomy and mechanical ventilator care as ordered
> Providing infusion therapies, including TPN, and CVL care as ordered Medication administration
Recognize changes in your patient’s conditions that require appropriate nursing interventions to ensure the patient’s well-being and safety.
Work collaboratively with the patient’s family, respecting all family preferences while communicating at a high level with both the family and the Marathon office
Provide care that is culturally competent, non-discriminatory, and always considerate of the patient’s comfortability, needs, and preferences.
Exhibit professionalism, representing Marathon Nursing well by focusing on the needs of the patient at all times, and working collaboratively with the patient, their family, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Requirements:
Current, unrestricted, and unencumbered state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Massachusetts
Proof of valid and current CPR/BLS certification
Six months’ experience in Home Care/Private Duty Nursing is preferred, but new learners are welcomed to apply (New Grad nurses may qualify for our New Grad Nursing Program)
Critical Care experience is a plus
Experience in Outpatient or Inpatient Pediatric Nursing is preferred but not required
Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate the building of long-lasting and meaningful relationships with our patients and their families
Dynamic problem solver who enjoys working collaboratively with the family and care team(s)
Physical Requirements
Must be able to do occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of approximately 50 pounds
Ability to withstand periods of prolonged sitting, walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and/or reaching.
Must have visual and hearing acuity necessary to perform job duties and maintain patient safety
