Job Overview: K2 Solutions Inc. is looking for a full-time Lead Veterinary technician to care exclusively for canines. To continue expanding the high standard of care provided for the K2 canines, the K2K9 Veterinary Hospital is seeking to expand their veterinary support staff, specifically by hiring a licensed veterinary technician to supervise the veterinary technician staff. This role is crucial in maintaining the health and well-being of our canine population. As a licensed veterinary technician, you will work closely with our veterinarian, veterinary support staff, kennel staff, and program managers to ensure the highest standards of care for our canines.
Responsibilities:
· Serves as an integral component in the care of canines in the K2 canine program.
· Works closely with veterinarian, veterinary support staff, kennel staff and program managers daily.
· Prepares and performs procedures that do not require veterinarian including blood draws and basic lab work to include fecal analysis, ear cytologies, skin cytologies, and urinalysis.
· Helps maintain the cleanliness of the K2 or vet tech trucks / trailers, hospital, hospital yard/airing area, vet room, and any other areas the clinic staff may work.
· Must be comfortable and capable of handling all types of large canines including labs, shepherds, Malinois and mixed breeds with aggressive and docile behaviors.
· Must be comfortable as independent worker, comfortably completes assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, has initiative to work without direct supervision
· Supervise veterinary technician staff
· Represent veterinary staff in K2 meetings
· Planning and coordinating with Veterinarian the physical therapy and conditioning program
· Oversee day to day operations, coordinating, and assisting with situations that require more experience while educating staff
· Work with office manager to keep veterinary office running efficiently and effectively
Required Qualifications:
· Enthusiasm and attention to detail to successfully acquire the necessary knowledge and skills needed to work as a Lead Veterinary Technician at a non-traditional veterinary hospital.
· Readily adapts to changing situations willing to perform all assigned tasks.
· Ability to present oneself in a professional, mature manner under stressful situations.
· Must have exceptional communication skills.
· Basic computer skills, including basic Excel knowledge.
· Display willingness to learn and develop proficiency with medical record system.
· Willing to work occasionally on weekends to administer specific medical treatments.
· Certification through an accredited Veterinary Technician program as well as licensure in the state of North Carolina (ability to obtain NC licensure in timely manner if state specific licensure is not currently held).
· Supervisory and leadership skills
