Electrical Engineer – Substation Design & ProtectionProfessional SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with experience in the design, engineering, analysis, and execution of high-voltage substation projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in utility transmission and distribution systems, including substation physical design, protection & control, relay coordination, grounding, and equipment specifications. This role supports projects from conceptual design through commissioning while ensuring compliance with utility and industry standards.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and engineer transmission and distribution substations (typically 4.16kV–500kV).Develop substation physical layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.Perform equipment sizing and selection for:Power TransformersCircuit BreakersDisconnect SwitchesCTs/PTsBusworkSurge ArrestersPrepare protection and control (P&C) drawings.Perform short circuit, load flow, grounding, and relay coordination studies using ETAP, SKM, CYME, or EasyPower.Review engineering drawings and vendor submittals.Coordinate with civil, structural, transmission, distribution, and commissioning teams.Support construction activities, field engineering, testing, and commissioning.Ensure compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, and utility standards.Provide technical support throughout project execution.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.5–15+ years of substation engineering experience.Experience with utility companies or EPC firms.Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution systems.Experience with high-voltage substations (69kV, 115kV, 138kV, 230kV, 345kV, or 500kV).Knowledge of relay protection and SCADA integration.Ability to review IFC drawings and construction packages.EEO:“Mindlance is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of – Minority/Gender/Disability/Religion/LGBTQI/Age/Veterans.”
