This position is responsible for implementing project designs and improvements to existing products in accordance with department procedures, working under the project team plans. The Design Engineer researches and evaluates products, parts or processes for cost efficiency and reliability, ensures the fit, form and function of the existing design or new products and works with other departments in order to ensure production and packaging of final product in accordance with customer specification and ACD procedures.ResponsibilitiesDesigns, models, and tests prototypes for productsConducts research and creates design proposals for projectsCreates concepts, performance, and production criteriaIdentifies and selects materials needed for productionProduces final hand drawings and specificationsCreate parts lists and ensure value engineering practices are provided for the designs. Make samples of working models for demonstrationParticipates in planning marketing initiatives for productNegotiates appropriate production processesEvaluates products and processes for cost efficiency and reliabilityWorks with the Engineering team and other departments to ensure production schedule is metUses computer-aided design (CAD) to create concepts, and layout pumps and systemsFollows department processes and procedures and provide feedback and ideas for improvement This list is not all-encompassing and tasks not mentioned here may be requiredQualificationsExperience with Solid Works and GD&TExperience analyzing engineering sketches, specifications, related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape and arrangement of partsAbility to make equipment layouts and perform fundamental engineering calculationsAt least five years of design engineering experienceExperience planning and formulating design engineering program and works with project team staff according to project requirementsAbility to review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements, and related specificationsAdvanced knowledge of MS Office SuiteWork Environmental and Physical Demands:In order to perform the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. may be necessary.Overtime may be necessary as the workload dictates. This may include week days, weekends, nights and/or holidays.Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to a Client's office, production facility or industrial/construction job site.
