Position OverviewThe Transportation Analyst provides front-line support to the Manager of Transportation and the Manager of Planning, Purchasing, & Logistics by performing shipment track and trace, shipment monitoring, gathering in-transit reports, and dealing with straightforward shipment problems. The Transportation Analyst performs system maintenance to ensure rates and transit times are accurate.Primary Duties / ResponsibilitiesSupport the team with import and export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, or procedures.Interface directly and often with internal stakeholders, external customers, and carriers.Utilize the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Code of Federal Regulations, ensuring all products comply with CBP regulations. Ensure that HTS codes are maintained on all items in SAP ERP system.Request or compile necessary import documentation, such as customs invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo‐control documents; function as liaison with governmental agencies.Stay abreast of changes in import or export laws or regulations by reading current literature, attending meetings or conferences, or conferring with colleagues; train internal SMA employees as needed.Support/training and provide direction to Transportation Coordinators as needed.Validate customs broker invoices and approvals for payment, resolving invoicing disputes when necessary.Manages large‐scale projects from import to delivery to site.Manages tasks and projects with higher levels of complexity.Track KPIs for BOL & label creation as well as freight quotes for the sales organization.Maintain a record of items transported from one place to another.Enter shipments into the Transportation Management System (TMS).Perform data analysis on transportation‐related costs/services.Other duties as may be required or assigned.Required QualificationsA bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience.More than 5 years of relevant work experience on either the carrier or shipper side.Working knowledge of all carrier modes (air, parcel, ocean, FTL, LTL, flatbed).Working experience maintaining and using a TMS preferred.Preferred QualificationsMS Office emphasis on Excel, Access, PowerPoint.SAP and/or Transportation Management System desirable.Strong written and oral communication skills with a customer service focus.Creative thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills.Highly motivated self‐starter with strong time management skills.Organized, attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy required.BenefitsBase salary range of $70,500 to $89,000 annually, dependent on experience.Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage; $0 premium options.Hybrid work schedule: Tuesday and Thursday in‐office presence at our Rocklin, CA headquarters.401(k) plan with company match.Opportunities for professional development and training.EEO StatementWe are an equal opportunity employer and we make our employment decisions on the basis of merit and without regard to one's race, color, creed, sex (includes gender, pregnancy, childbirth and related medical conditions), gender identity, religion, marital status, age (over 40), national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability (includes HIV/AIDS), medical condition (cancer, genetic characteristics), veteran's status, sexual orientation, or any other consideration made unlawful by law.
