Subject Matter Expert (Mechanical Services and Sales)

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), your duties will include evaluating customer needs and recommending suitable services, products and/or technical solutions. The SME represents Caltrol, Inc. and the Mechanical Services group to guide the development of service and/or technical solutions and products to all Caltrol customers. The SME will generally be assigned to one or more geographic territories. Other responsibilities include collaborating with Account Managers and independently growing our business by understanding our customer’s business needs and creating solutions utilizing services and products offered by Caltrol. Hiring Range The hiring range for this position is $123,000-$153,000 annually (base) plus Quarterly Profit Sharing. This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate along with the requirements of the position. What you'll be doing: Apply subject matter expertise in evaluating and improving customer service needs and requirements. Consult across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge. Establish relationships with all customer accounts: maintenance, production, operations, plant engineering, management, and purchasing. Manage and strengthen internal service and sales operations relationships including facilitating joint sales calls, training, and projects. Introduce Caltrol to new accounts (white space) that could utilize our services and products. Work with inside sales and operations team(s) to meet customer expectations for “other than routine” services and/or applications. Coordinate with Account Managers’ efforts to expand Caltrol’s presence at existing and new accounts. Work with Emerson Business Units or vendor events coordinating messaging for Caltrol’s Mechanical Services portfolio. What we’re looking for: High school diploma (minimum) required. College degree in Business, Engineering, Management, or Marketing preferred (but not required). 3-7 years of experience in outside sales or comparable work experience. Ability to handle special assignments and schedule demanding workload requirements to meet customer deadlines. Technical and sales aptitude to successfully sell mechanical/industrial services and products. Expected Hours / Work Schedule: The job is full time, scheduled Monday-Friday. Employee is expected to be available during normal business hours, starting no later than 9:00 am, and staying until at least 3:30 pm. This position is eligible for Caltrol’s hybrid work program allowing remote work for up to two days per week, subject to program qualifications. Application Engineers will be on call occasionally outside of standard business hours as scheduled by the After Hours program manager, which may require coming into the office and/or working remotely to resolve customer issues. Work Environment: This job is performed primarily at customer sites and at Caltrol or home office. When in office, employee is responsible for setting the work environment to their needs. When on customer sites, the environments will vary. Sites can be loud, may be warm in summer or cold in winter, and may include both indoor and outdoor sites. Customer sites will require the use of Personal Protection Equipment, which will vary, but at a minimum will include safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and safety glasses. Physical Demands: Employee will be expected to drive/fly to customer sites throughout Caltrol’s territory. While on site, employee may need to climb or bend, and may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Travel: 70% of the job involves travel; most travel will occur within California, Arizona, and Southern Nevada. Travel will require some overnight stays.
