API Engineer

The solutions you develop must be secure, scalable, maintainable, and in alignment with portfolio objectives. You must combine advanced technical skills with interpersonal skills as you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization.What you will doLead the planning, design, development, and implementation of RESTful APIs to comply with our RESTful API Standards, that meets requirements and technical specifications and has a strong focus on consumer experience.Develop and maintain comprehensive API documentation for internal and external developers.Develop and maintain comprehensive user documentation for consumers of API Office services.Work in an agile delivery team to break down stories and deliver functionality in sprints.Implement and enforce authentication, authorization, and security protocols to protect data.Provide guidance, training, and mentorship on the business impact of the systems supported, technical systems design, and API development best practices.Conduct code walkthroughs to ensure the quality of programs developed by team.Participate in the team’s on-call support rotation.What You'll Need5+ years of experience developing and supporting scalable applications/API solutions.5+ years of experience with HTTP based system integrations5+ years of development experience in web services developmentStrong problem solving, debugging and communication skills.Demonstrated ability and experience in the entire service development life cycle: design, implementation, deployment, and monitoring.Proven experience in designing APIs using Open API Specification.Proven experience working with an API Management platform.Proven experience implementing CI/CD automation and using software development tools such GitHubProven knowledge of API security standards, including but not limited to OAuth2.0/OpenID ConnectExcellent verbal and written communicationStrong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and organizational skills.Proven experience with Java, Spring Boot, Thymeleaf, CSS, and JavaScriptProven experience developing in MuleSoftProven experience using Agile product development methodsPreferred Qualifications:Demonstrate problem solving and debugging skillsAbility to learn and grasp concepts quickly in a fast-paced environmentExperience designing APIs with consumer-driven design approach.Experience with contract testingExperience with API mockingMuleSoft Certified DeveloperExperience with Node.jsExperience with Rust Programming Language**Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with a preference for Tuesday through Thursday. ***
