As a CNC Machinist at Prototek, you'll work on challenging, non-repetitive parts where quality, problem-solving, and craftsmanship truly matter. - The Work You'll Be Doing In this role, you will: Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes Machine parts to tight tolerances (±0.001" and tighter) Run high-mix, low-volume prototype and short-run jobs Load, edit, and optimize CNC programs Select tooling, design fixtures, and calculate feeds/speeds Perform first-article and in-process inspections Collaborate with engineering, programming, and project teams Mentor junior machinists and contribute to job planning - Machines, Controls & Software Machines: Doosan, Mazak, Haas, DMG Mori, Hurco Controls: Fanuc, Mazatrol CAM Software: Mastercam, Surfcam (or similar) Inspection Tools: Calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators - What We're Looking For Required Level II: 2+ years of CNC machining and setup experience Level III: 3+ years of advanced CNC machining and programming Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes Comfortable troubleshooting machining and setup issues Preferred (Not Required): CAM programming experience (Mastercam / Surfcam) Exposure to 5-axis machining ERP system experience Trade school certificate or machining degree - Materials You'll Work With Aluminum Stainless Steel Titanium Inconel Plastics and engineered materials - Why Machinists Like Working Here Machinists choose Prototek Eau Claire because Clean, climate-controlled precision shop Interesting prototype and short-run work (not button-pushing) $5,000 sign-on bonus + shift premium Modern machines, tooling, and inspection equipment Supportive team culture focused on innovation and improvement Clear paths for growth into advanced machining or programming - Pay, Benefits & Schedule CNC Machinist II: $26.00 – $29.00/hr CNC Machinist III: $28.00 – $34.00/hr 2nd Shift Premium: Additional 10% Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays 401(k): With company match Relocation Assistance: Available - Apply Interested CNC Machinists can apply directly through hireCNC.
