University of Connecticut is one of Connecticut's premier centers for excellence in clinical care, biomedical research, and medical education.We are seeking a junior faculty member who is a passionate clinical scientist to provide care for patients with hematological malignancies (lymphoma, multiple myeloma, leukemia) undergoing stem cell transplant and cellular therapy. The successful candidate would work with the medical director and transplant team with full participation in the programmatic requirements to obtain FACT accreditation for autologous stem cell transplantation and immune effector cell therapy as well as future allogeneic stem cell transplantation. We encourage candidates with expertise in all aspects of transplant care including stem cell and bone marrow harvesting, tissue typing and evaluation, infusion practices, expertise in the prevention and treatment of transplant complications including GvHD as well as expertise in CAR-T and/or gene therapies. In addition, the ideal candidates would have experience in designing and conducting clinical trials within disease specific hematological malignancies and/or transplant/cellular therapies.Applicants must have an M.D or MD/PhD degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Experience with clinical trials and an interest in clinical or translational research is strongly preferred as well.Key ResponsibilitiesFull participation in the programmatic requirements to obtain FACT accreditationContribute to the development of SOP's, standard practice guidelines, workflows and institutional requirements for FACT accreditationProvide independent judgement in diagnosis, treatment of patients, and formulation of treatment plansOversee the interdisciplinary team, fellows and other trainees in all aspects of their assigned dutiesProvide medical educational and multidisciplinary team coordination services Co-develop a stem cell/cell therapy research program and aid with in-house stem cell processing and storage lab development Procedures include Bone marrow biopsies, stem cell and bone marrow transplantation, immune effector cell infusion. Harvest skills optional.Participate in administrative, and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UCONN Health and the School of MedicineThe Carole and Ray Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center has strong Divisions of MedicalOncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Gynecological Oncology. We also havestrong research programs in cancer immunotherapy, cancer prevention, cancer genomics andcancer cell biology. The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, located on our campus, is apartner institution.UConn Health is composed of the schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine, Graduate Programsin Biomedical Sciences, Public Health and Clinical Translational Research, the John DempseyHospital, and the faculty practice.
