divh2CT Technologist/h2pThe CT Technologist coordinates and produces quality computerized tomography (CT) studies and assists in CT guided procedures. The technologist must demonstrate and exercise critical thinking skills, knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy/physiology, radiation safety, venipuncture, and safe medication administration, specific to contrast media and adjunct medications. The technologist is responsible for the safe operation of sophisticated imaging and ancillary equipment to produce quality CT procedures. The CT Technologist ensures accurate documentation and image transmission and storage, professional and effective communication, and demonstrates knowledge of age-appropriate criteria when working with all patients, which include high risk and critically ill patients. Responsible for accurate charge capture and documentation. Management reserves the right to revise the job description or require that other tasks be performed when the circumstances of the job change (for example, emergencies, staff changes, workload, or technical development)./ph3Job Accountabilities/h3ulliPerforms quality Computerized Tomography examinations for review the interpreting physician./liliCoordinates the performance of CT examinations according to physician order/protocol./liliProtocols the ordered examination according to established guidelines and clinical history./liliPerforms venipuncture and medication administration with a focus on safety and effectiveness./liliAccurately documents care in the electronic health record (EHR)./liliAssesses the patient prior to the performance of the study to ensure safety and cooperation./liliEducates the patient, answers all concerns/questions, prior to the execution of the CT exam./liliDemonstrates proficiency when working with picture archiving and communication systems (PACS) to transmit, archive, and retrieve digital images./li/ulh3Education/h3pEquivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
