After School Program Coordinator: Full-Time, South LA
Program CoordinatorPay Range: $22 - $26 HourlyCore Hours: Monday-Friday from 10AM-6:30PM (Subject to change)The Program Coordinator will lead and manage an After-School All-Stars, Los Angeles (ASAS-LA) site that ensures a safe and dynamic program environment that educates, enlightens, and inspires youth in an after-school setting. The Program Coordinator will drive program attendance, demonstrate initiative, and develop creative strategies to attract and retain participants.Qualifications:Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an afterschool, day camp, or youth-based organizationAbility to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents, and community leadersFamiliarity with quality criteria for expanded learning programming is highly desirableAbility to develop and execute programs that accommodate diverse learning styles and interestsExperience working in ethnic and culturally diverse communities is highly desirableAbility to communicate (verbal and written communication) effectively in a team environmentRespond to critical incidents and act promptly in an emergency situation. Respond promptly to any and all incidents, using ASAS-LA protocolsExcellent organizational and managerial skills. Strong interpersonal skills and leadership abilityMust be proficient with computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)Must have valid transportationMust clear Drug Test, Tuberculosis screening and DOJ/FBI Live Scan prior to hireFluency in a language other than English is highly desirableMust possess a High School or General Education Diploma (GED). A baccalaureate degree in education, social or human services, child development, recreation, or a related field is desirable, or equivalent work experience in education, youth development, and or human services desirableMajor Functions:Supervise all staff and volunteers in the ASAS-LA program at a site and provide access to meaningful and relevant professional development opportunities. Supervise, train, and evaluate program staff, fostering a productive and collaborative team culture. Ensure staff participation, manage and implement PD opportunitiesAssist with necessary discipline and behavior management, reinforcing program rules nurturing a positive atmosphereAssist site staff in embedding the ASAS-LA Mission and Vision into the daily implementation practices at each siteResponsible for providing a safe and adequate program environment conducive to an enriching and intentional educational experience for students.Provide guidance and role modeling to participants, fostering an inclusive and supportive environmentOversee all aspects of day-to-day programming, including immediately reporting emergency situations, and personnel conflicts to your direct supervisorAct as a liaison between ASAS-LA and school site to address issues, share updates, and strengthen partnershipsEnsure implementation of all ASAS-LA initiatives through observations, and trainings at site and organization levelCollaborate and participate with school day efforts that are relevant to expanded learning programming, including youth leadership, service learning, tutoring programs, back-to-school events, and other activities taking place out of school timeAssist ASAS-LA with conducting surveys for periodic program evaluations, including parents, staff, and studentsMaintain positive and open communication with stakeholders through on-site weekly meetings and periodic program assessmentsResponsible for effective program planning throughout the year that includes session planning, development of class selections for students, site visits, culminating events, monthly calendaring, collaboration with core day efforts, and providing "real-life" experiences for studentsMaintain positive and open communications with community stakeholders through quarterly meetingsResponsible for scheduling site staff and approving payroll on a bi-weekly basis.Responsible for submitting check requests, provide supplies orders, ensure proper storage, maintenance, and inventory of program equipment and suppliesEnsure all program areas comply with health and safety standards. Emphasize safety as an important part of all program activities and staff training.Conduct regular safety training and drills for staff and youth, ensuring everyone understands emergency protocols and procedures. Establish and uphold a safe and supportive environment for all participants, with a focus on health, wellness, and injury preventionMaintain accurate and thorough documentation of safety-related incidents and ensure timely reporting to appropriate partiesResponsible for fully registering students and labeling program activities on the CitySpan databaseDaily review of students' sign-in sheets and adhere to deadline submission protocol as stated by ASAS-LAResponsible for maintaining student participation and average daily attendance (ADA) throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities, including student "voice and choice" strategies to meet grant requirements. Promote and stimulate program participation to ensure consistent and growing attendanceResponsible for monthly submission of Principal signed meeting agenda, staff meeting agendas, site calendar, and observation toolAvailable to work evenings and weekendsAttend all required management staff meetings, chapter meetings, and school site meetingsTravel to off-site meetings, trainings, and eventsPerform other duties as assignedThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
