Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager, and the job duties are to be completed in our Lafayette, Indiana office. This is not a remote position.
Position primary responsibilities include:
Blank sheet of paper ideation and design work
Researching, testing, and installing hardware for use in automated mail sorting.
Working with vendors to specify and procure hardware as part of project implementation.
Using computer-assisted design software to create and maintain Machine Drawings, Assembly Drawings and Instructions, Design Documentation, and Engineer Change Requests.
Working in multi-functional, cross-organizational teams to achieve company goals.
Preparing for and participating in engineering reviews.
Degree or equivalent experience preferred:
Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering Technology
Successful candidates will possess:
Strong attention to detail, analytical skills
Experience with CAD software
Design, modification of design, and automated CAD experience
General 3D CAD experience (Fusion360, etc)
Experience with Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Resource Program (ERP) software and strategies
Experience building mechanical prototypes, shop tools, and otherwise hands on construction
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills
Experience with the following is a plus:
Solidworks
General 3D CAD experience (Fusion360, etc)
Any Electrical Engineering experience
