Process Operator I

Hours:1st Shift Tuesday through Friday 6a - 2:30p and Saturday 10a - 6:30p with OT, weekends, and coverage for other shifts as requiredJob Description:This position assists the supervisor in leading and managing the team and the food manufacturing process. The performance indicators are Safety, Quality, Cost, Lead Time, Involvement, and Environment. This position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.Major Duties & Responsibilities:Knowledgeable of control panels and computer operation and ability to run items on manual if necessaryCompletes required paperwork including charts, reports, and Labware entriesAbility to read and understand schedules and trial formsPerforms scheduled teardowns and inspections of equipmentKeeps equipment not in use clean and sanitizedMonitors all processing parameters, functions and assures proper operation of equipmentClean In Place (CIP) all tanks, silos and associated line circuits and trucksCleans undersides of all pumps, homogenizers, piping, tanks, ladders and steps, water sets, catwalks, and panels dailyFoams ceiling, vents, walls, tanks, equipment and floor dailySelf-inspection of equipment and environment after cleaning to assure cleanliness and proper completion of dutiesProper storage of all cleaning supplies at the end of the shiftParticipates in Continuous Improvement ProcessFollows all Quality policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)Follows all Safety policies and procedures and participates in monthly observationsMaintains regular, predictable attendancePerforms other duties as assignedReceiving responsibilities:Daily receiving of milk, cream and other productsMaintains testing equipment for raw receiving and all paperworkMaintains chemical inventory for the processing departmentMaintains the receiving supplies (filters, sample vials, soap etc.)Cleans receiving office dailyCleans sample refrigerator weeklyAssures proper age of products in the silos and monitors silo activityMaintains cleanliness of the receiving bay and equipment in the bayMaintains sampling license and testing certification as requiredAssists separator operator as neededWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a manufacturing environment with the following conditions:Exposure to hot or cold Climate continuouslyExposure to chemical frequentlyExposure to noise and vibration continuouslyExposure to wet and humid conditions continuouslyPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Stand - continuouslyStoop/Bend - occasionallySquat - occasionallyCrawl - neverClimb Stairs or ladders - occasionallyReach - chest level, above or below - occasionallyPush - >35 lbs occasionallyPull - >35 lbs occasionallyLift/carry - >55 lbs occasionally (depending on area of responsibility)Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentBasic computer skillsAbility to speak, read, write and comprehend English1+ year experience in relevant industryAbility to work independentlyResponsible and able to multi-task
