They serve as advocates to our Spanish speaking families and students and build trusting relationships that ensure equitable access to school and district services. Community Liaisons work in collaboration with a variety of school and district staff members to support and empower students in reaching their social and academic goals.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degreeProficiency in English and SpanishDemonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, families and colleaguesDemonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, including excellent customer service skills with parents, students, staff, administration, and the communityDemonstrated ability to effectively use district technologyDemonstrated ability to work effectively cross-culturallyAbility to motivate and inspire students; takes a student-centered approachCommitted to educational equityPreferred Qualifications:Prior experience working in K-12 educational environmentPrior experience as a Cultural LiaisonDemonstrated ability to show initiative and function as a self-starterDemonstrated ability to maintain confidential informationExperience working with students and familiesExperience in restorative practices circle keepingEssential functions of the position may include but are not limited to the following:Assist Principal and Staff with implementing the programWork in coordination with staff and/or administration to meet students/families needsAssist school and district staff in deepening their understanding of and responsiveness to Spanish speaking cultures represented in District 197 schoolsAssist in supporting student academic success and goalsPartner with teaching staff to help build family connectionsAssist in developing and implementing support and outreach strategies for familiesOther duties as assigned
