Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) Specialist

The Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) Specialist with Gessner Engineering is responsible for applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, and coordinate the execution of specialized H&H projects and teach expertise to developing engineers. Duties & Responsibilities Communicates and coordinates with consultants and AHJ Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of drainage systems Produce H&H technical reports, models and studies for both Municipal and Private Sector clients. Models may include 1D/2D Unsteady/Steady State, as well as various Hydrologic methods (i.e., SCS, Snyder, Mod Puls, Kinematic Wave, etc.). Perform watershed hydrologic analyses for planning, outfall master planning, flood control conveyance and detention facility design Prepare full construction plans for drainage projects including ancillary design of grading, roadway, and utilities, and associated details. Design of special drainage details and schematics. Prepare GIS databases and work with GIS systems. Develop mitigation measures and alternatives for watersheds, including flood forecasting and inundation mapping. Evaluate complex water resource systems, including watersheds receiving rain and snow Perform integrated hydrologic modeling, including potential impacts on surface and groundwater due to climate changes. Qualifications Education/Licensure Professional Engineering (P.E.) License in Texas Experience 5+ years of experience as a Civil Engineer 3+ years of experience specializing in H&H/Water Resources Skills Knowledge of/familiarity with GIS Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PondPack, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Autodesk SSA, Flowmaster, EPANET, and WaterCAD Working knowledge to perform technical analyses, design culvert layouts, permitting requirements, preparing drainage reports, closed storm sewer system design Be solutions-minded.
